⭐A Heartfelt Congratulations to Our Co-Founder, James Huang!⭐
Last night, James was honored with the ACP Community Service Award at ACP MetroCon, and we couldn’t be more proud!🎉 For decades, James has worn many hats in community service, always stepping up to support those in need. His unwavering dedication and compassion have touched countless lives and continue to inspire all of us at NiHao. This award is a testament to his incredible work and the positive impact he’s made in our community. Thank you, James, for leading by example and reminding us of the power of giving back. Let’s celebrate this well-deserved recognition together! In recognition of September’s Hunger Action Month, Southlake's Durham Intermediate School collected over 500 jars of peanut butter and raised an additional $1,000 through virtual donations to benefit the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).
Former Durham student and NiHao Food Bank Initiative student ambassador Athena Wen introduced the NTFB's annual peanut butter drive to the school this year. The drive is especially impactful because peanut butter is essential to food banks thanks to its long shelf life and nutritional value, providing critical support for those in need. The North Texas Food Bank expressed deep appreciation for Durham’s contributions, noting how the school's efforts stood out among others. "Durham’s participation in this year’s peanut butter drive has been outstanding, and their generosity will help spread hope to children and families facing hunger," says Johnny Jenkins, Manager of Strategic Initiatives at the North Texas Food Bank. https://www.southlakestyle.com/community/school/durham-rallies-behind peanut-butter-drive/ We had the pleasure of speaking with North Texas Food Bank's Erica Yaeger at NiHao's annual meeting! In this video, Mrs. Yaeger discusses NiHao's impact on food insecurity in North Texas. Texas is the hungriest state in the nation, and NiHao can mobilize the Chinese American community to volunteer, it makes an incredible difference. It means someone has hope for the future and a brighter tomorrow! As we begin the 2024-2025 year, we are committed to continuing our fight against food insecurity in Texas, and we’re excited to make a difference in our community! Bing Xie, the Co-Founder of the NiHao Food Bank Initiative, had a meaningful conversation with Claire from Feeding America. During their discussion, Bing passionately shared NiHao's journey—not just as a symbol of hope, but as a powerful force for change. In just the past three years, NiHao has provided nearly 2 million meals to families in need across North Texas, making a tangible difference in the fight against hunger. Thank you United Chinese Americans (UCA) for presenting NiHao Food Bank Initiative with the “Chinese American Charitable Giving Award” at the Chinese American Convention Gala night in Washington D.C. Accepting the award on behalf of NiHao is co-founder Jane Li, CTO of Honeywell and NiHao ambassador Sherwin Xu. This prestigious award is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our volunteers, donors and supporters of the NiHao movement. Your commitment to the cause is what drives us to make more positive impact to our communities. In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, the Dallas Morning News spotlighted the inspiring actions taken by North Texans to combat anti-Asian hate. The feature included NiHao's dedicated efforts to mobilize the community, showcasing a photo of founders James Huang and CY Chen. Also highlighted was NiHao ambassador Melody Tian and her impactful "A-Portrait Project." Here's to making a difference in our community! Thank you, CW33 and Jenny Anchondo, for highlighting the work of North Texas Food Bank and NiHao Food Bank Initiative, a grassroots movement driven by Chinese American volunteers to fight hunger. Through remarkable unity and extraordinary teamwork, we can make a difference. NiHao was awarded "Community Engagement Award" during US-China Chamber of Commerce Dallas' Annual Meeting. Go NiHao! NiHao Ambassadors also set up a booth to raise hunger awareness and funds. During ACP Foundation's annual MetroCon Symposium, Team NiHao was awarded "Influential Team of the Year of 2022". In the mean time, youth ambassadors set up a booth at the event, actively engaging with guests to promote Hunger awareness and NiHao Food Bank Initiative.
