Thank you, CW33 and Jenny Anchondo, for highlighting the work of North Texas Food Bank and NiHao Food Bank Initiative, a grassroots movement driven by Chinese American volunteers to fight hunger. Through remarkable unity and extraordinary teamwork, we can make a difference. NiHao was awarded "Community Engagement Award" during US-China Chamber of Commerce Dallas' Annual Meeting. Go NiHao! NiHao Ambassadors also set up a booth to raise hunger awareness and funds. During ACP Foundation's annual MetroCon Symposium, Team NiHao was awarded "Influential Team of the Year of 2022". In the mean time, youth ambassadors set up a booth at the event, actively engaging with guests to promote Hunger awareness and NiHao Food Bank Initiative. Total 400 flyers were handed out and many people made a donation to support NiHao initiative. See NTFB news release, https://ntfb.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Nihao-Food-Truck-News-Release_FINAL.pdf “We are so grateful for the support of organizations like Nihao that recognize the growing issue of hunger and look for innovative ways to contribute to the organizations addressing this complex problem, In just a short time they have made a significant impact in our mission of hunger relief and are mentoring the next generation of community leaders through their Youth Ambassadors program." - Trisha Cunningham, NTFB President and CEO Congratulations to all the NiHao ambassadors, volunteers, donors, sponsors and friends, it takes a community to grow this grassroot movement. A special Thank you to Bing Xie and Jane Zhang for your generous donation to enable this NiHao NTFB co-branded truck opportunity. See A Truckload of Progress for NiHao, by David Cui During 2022 NTFB Peanut Butter Drive, a historic 349,881 lbs of peanut butter has been raised to help feed hungry children in North Texas. shoutoutdfw.com/meet-james-huang-co-founder-of-nihao-food-bank-initiative/ During the 2022 CIE/USA-DFW Annual Convention, on behalf of Nihao, Bing Xie accepted the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Community Service presented by the Richardson Mayor, Paul Voelker.
Xie Bing, along with Cassie Collins, the North Texas Food Bank director of volunteer operations, was featured on CW33 highlighting volunteer opportunities as part of Hunger Action Month. It is very encouraging to see TV stations proactively reach out to one of Nihao founders to learn about what we are doing, which means we have built up good momentum and generated positive impacts beyond the Chinese American community. Let’s keep doing what we have been doing and set up a strong, accountable Chinese American image while we help people in need.
